Fame, it was once assumed, derived from extraordinary accomplishment, but in an age of celebrity - in which people can be “famous for being famous” - fame is often fleeting and only sometimes based on achievement. How did this come about and what makes fame so attractive to many? What are the dangers of pursuing fame and the dangers of achieving it? What kinds of fame are worth pursuing?
